Margaret Martorana, Chair
"Vantria Federal Credit Union is not-for-profit, owned by the membership,
for the benefit of its members and community to help the membership
establish and reach their financial goals." These key phrases
in our Mission Statement have inspired me to take an active role
in our credit union over the past 20 years. From being on the Credit
Committee to serving on the Board of Directors as Secretary, Vice
Chair and now Chair, I am committed to make our Credit Union the
financial institution of choice for our community! This includes
more services for our members, lower fees, and internet banking,
just to name a few.
Alex Erhard, Director
Mr. Erhard has been a credit union member for 20 years and currently
serves on the Board of Directors. He works for the Prince William
Public School System as a 7th grade mathematics teacher at Rippon
Middle School.
I am running for the board to help guide the growth of VFCU
as a community asset while protecting member interests."
Stephen Clowser, Secretary
Mr. Clowser has been a credit union member for over 18 years and is currently the Chief of the Energy, Distribution and Reutilization Branch in the Office of the Comptroller, Defense Logistics Agency.
"I'm interested in continuing to donate my time to an organization I've been a member of for more than 18 years. My experience on the Board to date has been enjoyable and informative, and I believe my knowledge, skills, and abilities will continue to be an asset in helping our credit union remain strong and vibrant."
Stephanie Whalen, Director
Ms. Whalen has been a Vantria Federal Credit Union member since December of 1997. She is currently serving as the Director of Agency Administration (Individual Division) for the Union Labor Life Insurance Company where she manages multiple budgets in excess of $18 million and works as the legal liaison for the department with all the State Departments of Insurance. Ms. Whalen has a BS degree in Administration of Justice from George Mason University.
Ann Goergen-Jacobs, Director
Ms. Goergen-Jacobs has been a long time member of credit unions since she was a teenager depositing her babysitting earnings. Ms. Goergen-Jacobs is a graduate of the University of Michigan and spent 5 years in IT and 12 years in marketing and sales with Texas Instruments. She was the Executive Director for Housing and Community Services of Northern Virginia, Inc. for four years, striving to prevent homelessness. She joined GE Healthcare in 2005 as a Sales Analyst for their Imaging Solutions Division and for the past 1 ½ years has served as the Commercial Contracting Analyst and go to person for all the division's software contracts. She has been a member of Vantria Federal Credit Union for over 6 years and served on the board of the credit union for the past 5 years. Ms. Goergen-Jacobs believes strongly in Vantria Federal Credit Union and the learning experience it has provided as a board member.
Patricia Malatesta, Treasurer
Ms. Malatesta has over 30 years of progressively responsible experience
as a credit union employee in several other credit unions, including
serving in positions as a loan officer, accounting supervisor and
as vice president/chief financial officer. She was hired as CEO
of Vantria Federal Credit Union in March of 2002 and was appointed
to the Board of Directors to fill a vacancy in April of that year.
Her professional educational background includes earning the designation
of Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE) in 1990, the second person
to achieve that certification in the District of Columbia. She also
graduated from the Credit Union National Association Management
School in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1988. The CUNA management school
entailed six weeks of resident study over a three-year period at
the University of Wisconsin. Throughout her career, she has attended
many seminars and conferences relating to credit union management
issues, including regular attendance at the CUNA Economics &
Investments Conferences and the CUNA Technology Conferences.
Ms. Malatesta graduated from the University of Maryland, summa
cum laude, with a BS in Law and Public Policy. She is a member of
the Alpha Sigma Lambda continuing education honor society and an
elected member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, University
of Maryland Chapter.
Stephanie Easter, Vice Chair
Ms. Easter has been a credit union member for over 15 years and is currently employed as a Program Analyst in the Resources and Requirements Division of the Defense Logistics Agency. Stephanie says “I am eager to learn how Vantria FCU operates and would like to donate my time to an organization that I have a personal interest in."
