United States Savings Bonds
- Offered in three types: EE Bonds, I Bonds, and HH Bonds
- Denominations range from $50 to $10,000.
- Purchase prices:
- EE Bonds - Half the face value
- I Bonds - Face value
- HH Bonds - Face value by exchange of E/EE bonds, I bonds, or matured H bonds only
- Interest rates (call 1-800-487-2663 for current rates):
- EE Bonds - Market-based variable rate determined every six months, or a guaranteed minimum rate, whichever is higher
- I Bonds - A combination of two separate rates: a fixed rate of return and a semi-annual inflation rate
- HH Bonds - A fixed rate is set for 10-year increments based on the guaranteed minimum rate for Series EE Bonds at the time of the exchange and at the 10-year extension date
- Features:
- Low risk
- Backed by the Federal Government
- Federal interest is tax deferred
- Exempt from state and local income taxes
