Student Loan Application Tips
4 Easy Steps
- Pick up a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) from your high school or university guidance counselor. The Federal government will determine your eligibility for financial aid programs.
- Complete the FAFSA and mail it early. There is heavy competition for funds, so you should file in early April. A Student Aid Report (SAR) will be sent to you in four - six weeks.
- Submit the SAR to the school you plan to attend. The school will issue you an "Award" letter that indicates your eligibility for specific financial aid programs.
- If the "Award" letter indicates that you qualify for a Stafford student loan or if your parent needs a Federal PLUS loan, contact Vantria FCU's Loan Department.
